FAMILY

In my Asian American Culture class, we had to think about what Asian American culture means to all of us. To me being an Asian American, family is a huge part of my life. I decided to write a little poem about Family. Hope you enjoy.

Family

Family is diverse.
Not necessarily a man, a woman, and children living under one roof
But much more.
Friends are family.
Co-workers are family.
Anyone and everyone can be family.
Family cannot be defined by a certain set of people.
Family has no limits.

Family is about love.
Caring for others
And demonstrating you will do anything in your power
To make sure that they feel loved.

Family is about emotions.
Confiding one's feelings to others
Whether it is happiness, sadness, or anger
Or any other emotions in between
It is being able to feel their emotions
And them feeling your's in return.

Family is sharing experiences
With others
And growing together from those experiences.

Family is about unity.
Being together and enjoying the time
Shared together.

Family is about heritage.
Going back to the past
To see where you have come from
And to see where you are going
In the future.

All in all, I am a huge part of my family
And my family is a huge part of me
We love each other
And unite as one.
We share our times of joy
Our moments of pain
And we grow from our experiences

Family is all I need.
